Weekends aren’t really too much different than weekdays around here.
We are usually all here – weekday or weekend, breakfast is the same chaotic and lengthy process, laundry needs doing, at least one child is overtired (or one parent…) and messes need cleaning. Apart from the break from school (which I must admit has been especially welcome these last couple of weeks), not much changes. But the feeling is completely different.
I’m sure it is my programming from earlier years where weekends and weekdays held completely different schedules but I love my weekends. I let myself off the hook a little, I feel less guilty about lingering over a book or my knitting, I sneak to my crafty space in the basement for a few extra stolen moments. Even getting caught up on folding clothes and vacuuming feels better. And the joy of seeing friends we don’t often see during the week is a lovely bonus.
This weekend we lingered over:
new music
a gift for a little monkey
laundry
reading and mending
catch up
good food
colours
and springtime dreaming
All while we waited for…
…this…
…and this…
…and this to stop falling and start melting.
Welcome to a new week! Hope your weekend was full of wonderful.
Oh I love the first picture! He looks so cute with those headphones on! What new music were you guys listening to?
Oh, dear – not more snow! But, on a positive note, it is called spring fertilizer!!
Looks like you had a lovely weekend. I was working, but the family had fun anyway, and now we are off on a fun little adventure to make up for it.
you know it’s the same here – we are all here every single day but there is something about the weekend. maybe that my husband spends less time in front of the computer and on the phone, maybe it’s me feeling more relaxed but weekends are my fave 🙂 can’t believe y’all had even more snow! crazy. on the flipside, our strawberry season will soon be over and you’ll soon be enjoying them – i’ll totally be jealous then!
I have to fight the urge to get out of the city on the weekends. My husband works weekends so it is just me trying to not yell constantly at my fighting children. Even a drive out in the country helps. This weekend we stayed close to home and I caught up on laundry and picked up the house which I normally ignore on weekends, but I would have to say Monday feels a little less overwhelming now.
Oh I groaned a bit when I saw the snow! Though I am sure you always make the best of it :). It’s true, somehow the spirit lifts when the weekends are here. Maybe it’s the collected energy everyone gives when Friday arrives, that maybe something special might be waiting next.
Oh how sweet he is! Can’t wait to give him a huge hug! Isn’t it great that we give ourselves permission to relax and enjoy the weekends. I don’t like the more snow part though. We are finally getting a bit more sun here now which is a totally revigorating wonder.
Weekends are a bit of a funny thing for us to. We’ve never followed a regular week/weekend schedule since Hubby’s job happens anytime and quite often we homeschool on weekends since we’ve been to busy on a week day *grin*. I hope your snow is melting so you can start your spring plans 🙂
Our weekend kinda blend with the weekdays, too. Your photos tell such wonderful stories. Our snow has finally all melted, and for the first time since December, there is none in the forecast this week. Hooray!
Thanks, Susan! I’m happy to hear we aren’t the only ones who have been waiting for snow to melt.
Enjoyed reading about your weekend. It’s amazing how the catch up never ends. Thanks for the reminder to relax a bit about it…
: )
I actually found myself daydreaming of the weekend when I can fold the laundry that is already piling up. Oh the excitement!
