“Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more.
It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal
into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our
past, brings peace for today and creates a vision for tomorrow.”
~Melody Beattie
In the name of gratitude and truthfulness I’ve decided to post a little piece of reality here once a week. Likely just a single picture. See my original post here.
I’ve been thinking about my usual reality check and not feeling like I have the best attitude towards it today. I feeling like I’m swirling in complaints more than thankfulness and have taken pause to remember gratitude (inspired by the lovely Taryn). I started to compose a longer list of gratitude but decided instead to embrace the little people who are milling around here, in particular, the little girl below.
Today I am thankful for this little girl who, while she never stops talking, offers so much love from her great big heart. This little girl who, while it breaks my heart that she is growing up, never ceases to amaze us with her most incredible imagination. This little girl who forgives so quickly a mama who is not always as patient of a listener as she should be.
If you’d like to join in with a reality check of your own, please add a link or note in the comments!
I have so much to be grateful this week. I am grateful that Steven’s accident, although severe, could be so much worse. I am grateful that I have two older children to help out with all that needs to be done. I am grateful that Steven is home with us again, and although bed ridden, is still the leader of our family.
This is beautiful, Rachel- and what a beautiful, wonderful girl! <3
That is a beautiful post Rachel. What gorgeous eyes your daughter has!!
I find myself complaining too and need the constant reminder to be grateful. 🙂
Thank you for linking to me, it always feels like an honor to be on your blog.
Love, Taryn
A great post. My oldest is quite talkative too, and I always need to remind myself of the kindness oozing out of her, too. Your post did this beautifully. Hope you have a great start to your week.

I bet your little girl can make any stressful day a happy one, she looks so happy and eager to tell a good story!
Very great post! To be grateful in our busy lives is something new and undiscovered for the big amount of people. But sometimes we need only few words to change our minds and find pleasure and happiness around us.
Thank You fo sharing!
Rachel this is such a wonderful little reality check. She looks like such a sweet, fun little person.

What glow in your daughter’s eyes. And what a lovely post to think about. I have a child who is quick to forgive, so loving. I need to take cues from him.
What a sweet message for your little sweetie.
I loved the quote. It’s obviously powerful if it helped to inspire your beautiful sentiment. I’m grateful for all of the gratitude I’m finding while looking!
Blessings, Debbie
