Beautiful yellow girl sweater! I’m the opposite…have a hard time making my way through fiction, but non-fiction – I’m an animal ;-).

  2. Eva says:

I love that yeallo tea leaves sweater. It makes me want to make one for myself in that color (which is not in my stash … so: no not buying more!) Do you think that vintage baby knits is worth buying? That book about making beauty stuff yourself sounds good too. If you try some of it let us know if it’s any good. I’ve not made anything myself yet but it would definitely be worth a try.

  3. I’m loving all your knitting. The organic body care recipe book sounds lovely. I don’t have any personal recipes as such but I do love Weleda products. Jacinta

  4. Joy says:

Love the yellow of that sweater! So sunshine-y and happy. 🙂 That buttery-yellow yarn is pretty cute too. I’m sure you’ll find something perfect to make with it.

  5. Tracey says:

You know I love all that you knit Rachel! I can’t wait to see what you come up with for the new yarns, what a lovely gift! xx

  6. swanski says:

How wonderful to receive some stash yarn! The blend sounds perfect for baby to be!

  7. kate says:

Lovely knitting! What a wonderful gift from your mother-in-law 🙂 I can’t wait to see what you do with it.

  8. Ellen says:

I have that same book from the library as I type this. I’d like to join in on the yarn along, but I have to admit that at first I thought it meant that you had to read & knit/crochet at the same time. I find that impossible. Duh! Then I realized that it’s just what you’re knitting & reading (separately, of course). Need my 2nd cup of coffee…

  9. Love all around for your gorgeous knits!

I have a friend that was into making homemade baby food and such for her little pipsqueak, but I’m not sure if she branched into baby care products. I’d be interested to see what you try.

  10. Svenna says:

Love the tea leaves cardie; I’m looking forward to seeing your girl in it!
And the hat yarn looks yummy too. And the owlie sack… Ooooh, so much knitting to look forward to!
I’ve never made any care products, but it’s on my list of things I’d like to have a go at one day. I’m sure we’re going to hear about how you get on if you are having a try?!
    xx

  11. Elizabeth says:

Your yellow tiny tea leaves is coming along beautifully! And owlie sack is just too cute. I will have to find an expecant mom to knit one up for. I am back to Simplicity Parenting as well. Enjoying it and trying to impiment much, but totally know where you are coming from with the nonfiction lack of story line. We make quite a bit of our body care produts (soap, deoderant, hand cream, lip blam, hair wash/rinse, powder) You can find most of them on my blog: http://heartfelthomemaking.blogspot.com/
Have fun. Body products are fun to play around with.

    Blessings, Elizabeth

  12. Oh, I love your post today, so much to look at! Going to look for that Organic body care book, too, when I get a chance, as I’m really curious to see it now. And you tea leaves is just lovely! Love the color.

Look at all that lovely knitting! I love the Vintage Knits for Modern Babies book, don’t you? I wrote down a few of the patterns in it before returning it to the library, because I didn’t have time to make all the things I wanted from it before it came due…

I will have to check out your other book – I am in the middle of experimenting with homemade body care. Right now the only thing I do regularly is this facial steam/scrub: http://bathnbody.craftgossip.com/natural-blackhead-removalremedies/2011/05/12/ – I do it once a week or so & it works really well. I’ve also been wanting to try things from Julia’s article here: http://rhythmofthehome.com/summer-2011/homemade-skin-care-natural-recipe/ but I’ve been waiting until I use up my store-bought things first. xo

  14. Erin says:

I adore that tea leaves cardi! If only I had a little girl to knit for…

I hope you’re enjoying the vintage baby knits book. I found some really interesting knits in there for when we have another little one.

  15. Lydia says:

Oh my! Your yellow girl looks so beautiful, and I can’t wait to see your finished puerperium and owlie sack.

Thanks for the shout-out. I absolutely love Organic Body Care Recipes. I’ve made so many salves, lotions and serums from that book and they’re all so wonderful.

I have perfected my lipbalm recipe, and everytime I give someone a tube they always come back for more. I use this basic recipe but tweak it quite a bit: http://www.marthastewart.com/272589/homemade-lip-balm
To this recipe, I add one vitamin E capsule (acts as a preservative), omit the honey and use avocado oil as my carrier oil. Sometimes I reduce the avocado oil and add sweet almond oil as well.
You can order cheap lip balm tubes and pipettes from this place: http://www.lipbalmtubes.com/http://www.lipbalmtubes.com/

  16. I loved simplicity parenting. It is my go-to parenting book, especially for my youngest. I think that we think too much about *doing* as parents and we should think more about *being present* with our kids.

Like last week, I love that color. Your knitting is beautiful!

  17. Meadow says:

I’ve eyed the body care book on amazon before but haven’t picked it up. Alas our library does not have it. Hope you have some lck with it and I’ll be looking forward to your review (you will tell us about it?please, please, please)

  18. Everything looks great! Awesome knitting!

  19. Nadja says:

I love your yellow Tiny Tea Leaves! I made one in plum for my little girl, but it is way too big and she probably won’t fit it for another year (better too big than too small, right?). I think I need to make another for next spring…

  20. Elisa says:

Wow..really beautiful knitting. I love those colors. Great job!

  21. Apseed says:

Looks so stunning! I like the owlie sack, so cozy.
As for special recipe… From time to time I make face and body cleanser from scratch. Fro this recipe I use morning brewed coffee grains, add a little bit honey (it has to be sticky) and stir everything together. Then I put it on my face/body and scrub it–> wash off with water. This cleanser nourishes and moisturise my skin, which is perfect for cold weather.

  22. Casey says:

I love love the yellow yarn – so yummy!

  23. Katie says:

I know I said this last week, but the yellow girl is just beautiful! Hope you have a wonderful day!

  24. You’re knits are just beautiful. I backed up a post to check out your winnie cooper and it’s fabulous! Truly perfect in the ‘old school’ style. You have quite the lovely model too!

    Blessings,Debbie

  25. MJ says:

Oh boy you’ve been busy with all your lovely knitting! Dare I say you remind me of a bird preparing her new nest :). And I say yes, go ahead with another book! You’ll be even busier in a several weeks!!! Hugs to you!

  26. angie says:

tiny tea leaves looks fantastic! Can’t wait to here about that body care book sounds exciting!

  27. Sachi says:

I have made some salt scrubs with Epsom salts and herbs from the garden. I just made some rose water last week. Not sure what else… Let me know if you find a recipe that you love.

  28. Angela says:

That sweater is gorgeous! We have bodycare recipes we like. We use the lip balm recipe from Heavenly Bodies. I also make bath salts too. There are a lot of great recipes in the book you have. It smells so good while you make them.
    xo,
    Ang
