As I was looking through photos from this weekend I realized this has been the last weekend of summer. Next weekend, whether or not I choose to believe it, the calendar will tell us autumn has begun. I’m hoping we can still eek out a few more summery weekends but here’s how we enjoyed this one.
sweet treats
homemade ketchup which passed the test
read the book but forgot the ending…hubby thought it would be a cheerful story, he has a lot to learn about Dickens
garden harvests for one last jelly
a surprise visit from a special friend
a migraine which changed a day’s plans
darkened room, quiet children, napping
basement cleaning, purging, laundry
another trip to market followed by our weekly market meal (warning: it includes kettle corn)
knitting, knitting, knitting
baby love
renewed bedtime stories with this book when it was recovered from under the couch
quiet evening with a most wonderful man, darling babe and sweet sleepers
Summer weekends good to the last drop.

Little fingers and a doughnut!!! is there anything yummier!!!!
Soft little fingers… so gentle and subtle!
I hope we will manage to catch another piece of sun in nearest future.
Yes, that is a weekend filled with goodness… except for the migraine of course. I’ve read several of Dickens books. Last year I purchased a dvd of The Olde Curiosity Shop. The girls and I settled in for many hours just to find ourselves weeping at the end with no redemption. My youngest daughter just looked at me aghast and said, “that’s stupid, I can’t believe it”! 🙂
Blessings, Debbie
Oh that book, I love that book- though you’re so right about the ending! Would love your ketchup recipe, we’ve tried it and didn’t like the batch we made.
<3
So sorry about the migraine! I love the photo of little baby fingers, too sweet for words 🙂
perfect weekend. Ours was so full and yet I haven’t found time to write about it…So glad you are reading Little House in the Big Woods…such a loved book (series) in our family.

so sweet! Sounds like a great weekend to me!
Such sweet pictures and sounds like you had a very productive and wonderful weekend. Do you have the ketchup recipe to share? My youngest eats everything with ketchup, and I’m gathering a few for a taste test.
Aw, look at the little fingers..looks like a delicious, full end-of-summer weekend.
