Dad suggested an impromptu trip the beach. Without towels, without suits, without a change of clothes. With a refreshing ease we hopped out of the van at a new-to-us beach. Crocs and sandals, babe on chest. The air was hot and cold while the sun played peek-a-boo. Pants legs were rolled, splashing ensued, bums got wet (and plenty of other parts). Driftwood was released out to sea and was returned by the tide, a photo-op was spotted, two wasps had their say. Dinner plans became take-out pizza.
A perfect unplanning. And best of all the ocean welcomed us back.
How wonderful! Impromptu fun is always the best. 🙂
This is perfectly beautiful and the best kind of unplanning I say!
And as if the pictures couldn’t get more lovely, the rainbow simply is the icing!
Sometimes letting go of all plans is the best thing you can do; sounds like a perfect outing.
Love the shot with kiddos all lined up. 🙂
Sometimes I think too much planning adds stress to what should be fun, your day looks like it was just perfect. I love the shot of all,but one, of your children looking toward the water, it’s beautiful! xx
Unplanned beach days fit right into our unschool schedule… Beautiful.
Blessings, Debbie
Looks like a perfect day Rachel! So glad you found your way to the ocean, I know how much you miss it.
What a wonderful outing 🙂 I love the photo of the kids from tall to small. So glad you have a good time visiting family.
It always seems like the shore welcomes us most when our visits are unplanned. Seriously, what an amazing rainbow. Looks as if you’re visit was both well deserved and calming.
A perfect unplanning indeed! I love your go-with-the-flow spirit.
Holy hotbuckets! Look at that rainbow!!! Thank goodness for the freedom to follow a whim!!
xoxo
Nothing like just heading off for some fun. Love the rainbow. Jacinta x
sometimes the best times take little planning ahead….beautiful shots…makes me imagine what a 16th or 17 century ship would have seen as it landed ashore…
beautiful. love the size-sorted pic of the kiddos.
but more importantly: how are you so skinny after 5 kids?
Good job mama.

Oh, that looks so lovely. I love these impromptu autumn excursions, taking advantage of these last precious bits of warm. When winter comes, it will be something wonderful to look back on!
What stunningly beautiful photos! It’s so rare (for us) to get such a gorgeous day at the coast in autumn. I bet the memory of this day will help you get through the colder months.
Gorgeous photos!
I love the picture of the kids all line up, backs to the camera.. so sweet!
