I’m yarning along rather sluggishly this week. I’m fighting sickness again (grrr….) but on the plus side I’ve made more time for knitting and reading.
As I promised myself I finished last week’s projects. Now I’m working on two new projects. Inspired by this knit-along I’m working on a gap-tastic cowl for a friend. It’s a nice simple pattern but a lot of seed stitch. It’s not knitting up quite as quickly as I’d hoped despite the chunky wool and large needles. Maybe that’s because I switch over to my other project when the seed stitch gets boring.
I’ve finally started working on the Plain Vest I’ve been planning for a while. I’m using the Fleece Artist Afrika I mentioned a while ago and it’s lovely. Absolutely. I love the colours in the wool and the chunky stitches make me happy. It’s knitting up quickly (so quickly that I lost track of the pattern and kept knitting) and I’m hoping I’ll get it finished and tucked away for Christmas.
Somebody likes to watch me knit.
In reading I’ve moved onto the second Harry Potter book, The Chamber of Secrets and the girls and I are nearly through Little House on the Prairie at bedtime after a brief hiatus forΒ Tintin.
I’m rushing through the book discussion though to share the week’s most exciting news…I won Ginny‘s giveaway sponsored by Springtree Road and now I’m faced with the nearly impossible task of deciding on a skein of my very own. Let me tell you I’ve spent more time than I’d like to admit browsing through Maya’s shop and I’m still undecided.

Choosing yarn is always hard π But I am sure you will find something!
Will you see the Tintin film?
Ooh that cowl looks so nice and warm and I love the photo of you knitting with the little one π So cute! Congrats on winning the yarn too! Lucky girl! Hope you feel better soon. Hugs π

No long before those little hands start grabbing! Well done on your win – what a hard choice you now have. Let us know which one you choose. x
Looks great so far!
Regarding the illness, it’s probably your body helping build antibodies so that the darling little one doesn’t get sick. Hope everyone feels well soon!
Cheers!
Aww, your knitting partner (a future knitter im sure) is adorable:)
I love your knitting partner, just adorable Rachel! Congratulations on winning the giveaway and I know you’ll knit something fantastic with the yarn. Hope you are feeling better and getting a lot of rest, it that’s posssible with half a dozen children in your home ;)!

Congrats on winning! I do hope you feel better soon, it seems like you just got healthy days ago.
I am sooooooo slow at seed stitch. Congrats on your big win!
I hope you feel better soon! At least you have knitting and reading to enjoy while you recover π
And I love your picture!
Oh the cuteness! Congrats on the give away win my friend!
Hope you’re feeling better very soon! Yes, Congratulations! I saw that you had won. How fun that will be. More yarn always lifts the spirits. I agree with you – I love the look of seed stitch, but it is very repetitive.
I love that pattern & that yarn is gorgeous!
I saw that a “Rachel” had won the giveaway & scrolled down the comments until I found yours to see if it was you who won – so exciting for you! I would have a hard time choosing from her beautiful offerings as well. I can’t wait to see what you pick, and what you do with it!
Feel better⦠xo
Oooo, that gap-tastic cowl is great. I LOVE seed stitch!
Ooooo…you won! Very exciting. But be gone! illness. Seriously, leave our Rachel alone. I like reading the Little House books during the winter season, too. So cozy. Just like your sweet girl there. Be warm.
Congratulations! Now I know two people who have won blog prizes this week (one of my IRL friends won Amanda Soule’s giveaway. Enjoy the new yarn. Seed stitch drives me a bit batty and always seems so slow. My kiddos have been reading the Tintin comics lately as well
Oh that baby! And knitting… Maybe we should change the yarn long into pictures of knitting and babies… sigh.
Love your yarn! You are a knitting inspiration! I feel like I am such a slow knitter lately. I blame it on pregnancy π Although shouldn’t that make me want to knit more? Especially baby knits? I need to get cracking! I have only made this baby one hat. So exciting to win the giveaway! Oh I actually participated in the yarn along this week! It’s been a LONG while.
Wow! Congratulations, Rachel.
Love your knitting helper, too. Mira is quite the cutie. π
Congratulations on the giveaway! How fun!
Your knitting is beautiful and that yarn is amazing…I may have to order some too.
Little Mira is growing and growing and looking cuter than ever with those big, shiney eyes.
My oldest daughter used to love the TinTin books and now I have a cute little Westie that reminds me of TinTin….especially her personality. Your swaddled daughter brought a smile to my face. I thought, “Well, that is one baby who won’t be grabbing any knitting needles!”
loving those photos, such a cutie pie and wonderful yarn and knitting to bott, happy days xx
