I’ve been caught up in a haze of family, festivities…and flu. So much so that I forgot what day it was completely…but here I am, joining yarn along again, a little later than usual.
There was a blur of last minute crafting and knitting as last week ended. Sadly, I didn’t finish the Rae. There was not enough secret knitting time and the days got away from me. A birthday gift it will be. I also have quite a few other unfinished projects taunting me. Their time is coming. First I’m tackling the green tea.
I did finally add buttons to the puerperium and plain vest I did ages ago. They were gifted to daughters who look lovely in them (the verdict is still out on whether or not they will be firm favourites).
Also, as a last minute addition I knit a windschief (ravelry notes here) cowl for my eldest. She melted my heart with her speech on how she values handmade gifts most – along with making me sweat as I really hadn’t been able to do as much as I’d planned. I modified the pattern somewhat for her eight year old self and love it. I’ll be revisiting the pattern soon.
As for reading, I’ve only just found a moment to read the first few pages of Wildwood. It so sounds like my kind of book although I do find myself drawn to the stack of used classics my sweet hubby picked out for me (the fact that he found them used makes them even more dear). We’ll see if I carve out some reading time with my family around this week…on second thought, maybe I’ll just stick with the chocolate. Hooray for extended holidays.

joining Ginny for yarn along
I love the windschief for your daughter. It is always so encouraging when one of my kiddos asks for a mama made item or brags about it to everyone. Enjoy your chocolate. It sounds like it has been a bit crazy there. Feel well.
I hope you are on the mend and I was happy to see your post today… I always enjoy reading what you are up to : )
I noticed you were a little later than usual, but I found you. 🙂
I’m amazed at how much you produce. Everything looks so wonderful!
Enjoy the chocolate and rest time!
Cheers!
I was wondering where you were and am glad to hear you are enjoying the season.
Your daughter sounds the sweetest with her love of handmades, adorable.
Taking time for chocolate…oh yeah!
I knew you would be here for the yarn along! Love the knits 🙂 I hope you are having fun with the kids and the holidays.
Don’t beat yourself up too much, Rachel. I didn’t finish some of my projects on time either (and my kids are older!). The windschief looks interesting – is that you wearing it on Ravelry? Your model looks a little bit older than 8. 🙂 And hmmm…books or chocolate, books or chocolate…chocolate always wins (although in my case, I want to try and eat better and lose weight so chocolate probably wouldn’t help me)
Sorry to hear about the flu.. hope you are feeling better! I didn’t win the race either and had a present that didn’t get finished. Oh well. Hope you had a lovely holiday!
Beautiful! I love the colors! Sorry you’ve been sick… feel better soon prayers going up…
The flu! Say it isn’t so! I’m so sorry that the nasty bug has found your home, especially over Christmas holidays! Feel better- drink tea and knit:)
And I love love love the blue you picked for the windschief. Are you going to make the hat too? I’d love to give something like that a try, but i’m not sure that i’m ready for “twisted stitches”…that sounds really scary!
hope you guys feel better soon!
Thanks, sweet lady, I think we’re over it…
Your knitting looks beautiful – even if it didn’t get all finished in time; I am still catching up on gifts that didn’t make it under the tree, only a little slower now. Hoping that you’ll feel much better soon..
