#3 and 8 in the mitten department and #8 hat are fantastic! Happy knitting!

Oh it is a hard choice. Hat (not for husband): norby. (hmmm…I’ll have to add that one to my list) Really all the hats are great and look relatively similar (except for cabling pattern): tight-fitting. The mitts are another matter. You’ve got a mixture of fingerless and fingered. It probably depends on whether or not you want to keep your fingers toasty (and how much time you have to spare) I like the grove for fingered – it reminds me of Bella’s Mittens (I printed this one out). Bella’s is free! For fingerless, Falberry or Gradient are nice. But again, ALL of them are lovely.

Hope you are able to get in as much as you hope for and more (and a little rest, too) this weekend. Getting back into homeschooling can be tough.

Oh, Bella’s mittens are nice too…this is not helping me decide! I’m all over the place with the mitts (as you noticed). I think I need to start simple and then plan for one of he trickier patterns.
Thanks for the wishes – hope your weekend is going well!

The fiddlehead mittens are on my list this year. I have done bits of colorwork, but I would love to try these mittens (or the flocked ones from the same designer). I made my hubby a turned square hat from Jared Flood one year. He liked that one. I like windschief for his next hat, so I would pick that one. (For me, I want to knit Norie)

I am hoping to organize a bit, sew a quilt or two and knit this weekend. Also, our family hasn’t hiked this season and I am feeling a bit stir-crazy about it.

    • Rachel says:

Oh, I do hope you get out for some hiking – although sewing and knitting sounds like my kind of weekend, too.
I’ve admired the square turned hat – forgot to add it to this list. I love the windschief hat, too!

Oh I see your dilemna. Sorry I can’t help all them are so nice and inspiring me into knitting more crazy projects. Can’t wait to see what you come up with.
For now I’ll be knitting and crocheting away on a couple of aghans this weekend. It’s going to be a cold one too.

Now you have me wanting to cast on another project. I love the Polish pottery inspired mitten cuffs!
I knit six boyfriend hats as gifts this past Christmas and must say that all my guy’s love it.
I have a four day weekend and am hoping to knit a lot! My oldest son’s birthday day is next Saturday and I am not finished with his gifts. The sacrifices a mother must make! Yes, I will knit all day for my son! 🙂

Isn’t Ravelry such a wonderful time suck? I just finished a pair of mitts and am now working on a hat. I couldn’t decide which ones to make, so I went out on a limb and tried to design my own. The mitts were a success, but the hat is still a work in progress. Cross your fingers!

  7. Jen says:

I’m leaning toward Grove Mittens and the Thistle Hat.

  8. laura emily says:

oh goodness, they are all fabulous so it’s hard to decide. But the ones I thought I would go out and buy were the endpaper gloves & norby hat. So that’s my two cents!

can’t wait for the surprise next week for your blogiversary!

  9. Jennifer says:

My hubby has 3 of the boyfriend hats number 7 I think. Said it is the best hat pattern ever. I make it with the recommended extra inch and it is perfect for covering ears for the upcoming -32 degree weather we have due tomorrow….

    Have a great weekend!

    • Rachel says:

Brrr, our unseasonably warm temps are set to plummet this weekend as well. Sigh, we knew it was coming. Stay warm!

Thanks for the tip on the hat! I’ve had one of those planned for a while now but haven’t gotten there yet.

ooooh…I might have to join this little knit along. Hm…i think number four for mittens for you(second down on the first column.) BUT i really like the middle ones on the bottom too.

and for hats…i’d say number six for Dan (3d down on the first column,) and the one right next to it for your mumsy.

  12. swanski says:

I love the fiddlehead mitts the best! I have a friend that knitted them and they are better in person. Don’t you love ravelry?

    • Rachel says:

Oh yes, Ravelry is wonderful and terrible…. 😉 I do really love the Fiddlehead mittens, I think they are my faves – I’m wondering if they would be a bit bold for my first attempt at colourwork, though…

  13. angie says:

Oh so many choices! How could you decide? I’m stuck at the hospital all weekend…have fun.

  14. MJ says:
