“Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more.
It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal
into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our
past, brings peace for today and creates a vision for tomorrow.”
~Melody Beattie
In the name of gratitude and truthfulness I’ve decided to post a little piece of reality here once a week. Likely just a single picture. See my original post here.
We finally had a good night’s rest, everyone slept soundly in their beds, we forgot the lumpy mattress…And it was our last morning, the only morning we set an alarm, the first morning the little people slept in. We had to wake the stragglers at check-out time. Such a shame.
But I am thankful for the break we enjoyed. For the friend who knows all the good deals and booked the week for us. For the great blessing of homeschooling and self-employement. For mountain views and majesty.

P.S. Moving ::reality check:: to Tuesdays starting next week – see you there!
I know I can’t believe it myself.
So glad you were able to enjoy your vacation. Have a safe trip home!
lovely holiday away!!!! (I enjoyed sharing the snow pictures–as close as I got to snow this year!)
So glad you were able to get a much deserved break. Here’s to a good night’s sleep and pausing to take deep breaths. 🙂
Nothing like a sleep in…so glad you enjoyed your break.
There is a position in our local town office that is open. My hubby mentioned it to me a week or so ago…
Then he came home from a meeting last night and said “they asked if I had your resume”
I began wondering if I should go for it. Should I change the path I’m on right now?? Then I saw your post about the freedom of your self-employment and I think I’m using that as a sign. I am working toward that freedom myself. I don’t want a “better” job that gives me less freedom than I have right now… I was feeling irresponsible about not going for the job..I’m over it for now!!
I’m so glad to hear your story!
We’ve made quite a few sacrifices over the years while my hubby has been self-employed but it’s so worth it. Having our family together more, the opportunity to sneak out of the city now and then, and the opportunity to grow and acquire skills has more than made up for the smaller pay cheques. 🙂 I’m happy you’re sticking with your dream!
Rach, your reality check posts have been inspiring me to do my own. Hoping to start doing them in the next couple of weeks. Thank you for always sharing. I am in awe of you for being a mama of so many precious kids.
