“Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more.
It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal
into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our
past, brings peace for today and creates a vision for tomorrow.”
~Melody Beattie
In the name of gratitude and truthfulness I’ve decided to post a little piece of reality here once a week. Likely just a single picture. See my original postย here.
I don’t know what to say about this other than I’m a klutz. I rush, I’m careless, I multi-task like a 15 armed robot who doesn’t have six children. I do things like put my new recipe journal on the breadmaker while it’s kneading my first batch of dough so it can jump down into my second batch of dough. (I also do things like break a toe while rushing to fold laundry – but that’s another story.)
Although I let out a great moan after this happened, causing my family concern, I recovered. And I’m left feeling thankful for my mama who was visiting at the time. She did one of those great mom things – rushed in with concern (no doubt thinking I’d lost a finger based on the mournful noise I made), commiserated with me, and then cleaned up my mess so I could finish with my baking extravaganza. She handed back my journal nearly as good as new and freshly christened in the kitchen.
I am so thankful for my mom. Thankful that she can still makes things better and fix my messes, along with a whole host of other reasons she’s great. (She’s also amazing at untangling yarn – she’s a wonder, that woman!)

This brought me to tears as I read it to your mom!! What a blessing you are!!
Thank goodness mom came to the rescue! I spilled coffee the other day over many important papers. I love how you bounce back ๐
moms never stop needing to feel needed!!! nice tribute!
As a daughter of that same mama, I approve this message.
๐
I love your mom after reading this post! ๐
There are times I’d be totally lost if it weren’t for my mom….and I’m almost 44 years old. She is my rock. I’m glad you are blessed with an awesome mom as well!
She sounds like a very good mom. These things seem to happen to me a lot. On a side note I thought of you yesterday when my kiddos had turned my family room into a fort and my room was strewn with sewing supplies. It looked like a tornado had touched down amidst the moving chaos. But it was oh so fun.
Haha, that sounds familiar! Forts are the most fun…although sometimes I don’t love them…
What a good mama!
My recipe cards and cook books have been pretty beat up by the kitchen too.
Here’s our reality check!

You’re never too old for a mom! I should tell my own that more often.
I have to second Dakota Gal, you are never too old for a mom! My mom still calls me when she sees bad weather is headed my way, it makes me feel good!
Mom’s are pretty wonderful, aren’t they? So glad that yours was there when you needed her. ๐
So great to have a mama like that!
ack- paper recipes and kitchens are always tempting fate. I’ve done it myself. So glad mom was there to fix everything!
I once sat my recipe book right over the pilot light on the gas stove. It didn’t burn up (thank goodness!) but it had a nice little burn hole through the back cover and several pages. I never, ever, have forgotten about pilot lights since! Glad your journal was salvageable too!
Yikes! I guess that gives it character? ๐
Moms are wonderful, aren’t they? I wish I could see my mom more often! Once or twice a year is definitely not enough. How is your toe doing?
