“Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more.
It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal
into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our
past, brings peace for today and creates a vision for tomorrow.”
~Melody Beattie
In the name of gratitude and truthfulness I’ve decided to post a little piece of reality here once a week. Likely just a single picture. See my original post here.
In a home this size with this many people, spring cleaning is a necessary (and not merely annual) event. But in a home this size with this many people, spring cleaning, despite our valiant efforts, does not uncover heaps of unrealized space. We did not, for example, discover an extra bedroom hidden behind the linens this weekend.
That being said I’m very thankful for the fresh feeling of some newly organized closets and bookshelves. The feeling of accomplishment that comes from dropping a load off at the charity shop. And my hubby who is (mostly) patient and understanding when it comes to my fabric and wool stash.

Even though our family is smaller, we also have a tiny house and I feel like purging is a constant necessity. But it feels oh so good! And, my husband as well is (mostly) understanding about the fabric, yarn, and things-to-be-upcycled that occupy a corner of our bedroom.
I haven’t found d that spare room behind the linens either…I keep hoping 🙂
What?! No extra bedroom? What a disappointment! It does feel good to do a thorough cleaning, though. Not that I know from experience. I don’t think I’ve ever actually successfully spring cleaned. 😉
This pile of fabric looks scrumptious. I hope a few of the pretty pieces went back for a project or two! Glad to hear you have a little more breathing room now, to me that always feels so much better!
Ha, I am spring cleaning this week myself! It really is nice to see open spaces, even if I am letting go of a ‘few’ of my books.
LOL – spare room behind the linen!
Spring cleaning is a must – I’m glad you get to enjoy that ‘fresh feeling’!

Spring cleaning helped to make my studio a little bit more spacious and more comfortable for work.
Glad to hear it brings you the same good feeling!
Oh and this pile of fabric looks so deliciously yummy…What are your plans?:)

I tend to think yarn and fabric should be exempt. I do like the feel of sorting, purging and restocking. Even though no new space is created, the result is usually better utilization.
I need to spring clean soon. Unfortunately, I won’t find any hidden bedroom either! It does feel good though to clean, organize, get rid of, give away, etc – makes it so much easier to think clearly.
I love the gratitude quote!
