The intoxicating perfume of fresh lilacs thanks to a lovely new neighbour;
the first lattes on my new-to-me espresso machine (thanks, freecycle);
Dan spending the morning helping friends become new neighbours (!!!);
visits with an old friend, surprise pop-ins from sweet ladies and neighbours;
two butternut squash plants from a wonderful friend;
comfort baking, last minute meals, very few vegetables;
corners of this house beginning to look like home;
empty boxes and kids with wheels;
the oldest announcing she was going to bake and did not want help;
wind through poplars;
stolen game time with big brother;
and a little boy only more precious after the dreaded (by Mommy) haircut.
Settling in, stretching out, making home this is how we spent our weekend.
And you? How was your weekend?

Rachel, it sounds like your new house is becoming a loved home. I have been thinking of you and am so glad to read this post. With unpacked boxes and an expresso to drink I know you are doing great! Oh, and nice neighbors too, the world is good!
My youngest hates haircuts. Would you cut his? So happy the new house is fast becoming home. We had lilacs as a kid, and I do love the smell. Great freecycle score. And friends moved close – perfect.
I think it’s going to take me a while to visualize you guys at your new home when you talk about people popping by. I keep picturing people popping by at your old home. 🙂
What a great time! I love the barrette… too funny!
Plants, coffee, neighbors…sounds like you are settling in!
Sounds like you are home and settling in! Love the latte photo 🙂
hooray! hope you are settled soon!
mmmm….lilacs. love them madly.
so great to hear you are settling in. hopefully you’ll give us the full tour soon?!?
Sounds like a relaxing weekend even though there’s still plenty to get done. Nice that neighbours and friends are popping by and a wonderful feeling when you’ve just moved in. What’s E up to in baking? This sounds new!! Great job with the haircut! Maybe those lattes shouldn’t be just for weekends.
Oh, sounds like such a wonderful weekend – I love your photos. Lattes from a machine – how awesome!

I’m so happy you’re back! It looks and sounds like a very great weekend you had! Oh and I like home-brewed lattes, they have their own subtle magic.
